Hi guys, I am totally new to this but I refuse to spend another 4 month uni break sitting on my backside! So next year I plan on travelling around and seeing some fantastic places, that I haven't seen before. I have a basic route so far but I am not very sure if it is possible to link all these place together and how to get to them so if anyone could help me I would be very grateful. Firstly I plan on going to Fiji then hopefully Tahiti, American Samoa, Tonga then finish up in Thailand and if there is any places you guys would advice visiting in between then do share as i have plenty of time! So basically if people who have experienced this could tell me how they traveled and if there is any other places in between that I should go and visit as well, that would be brilliant, thanks!
Hi StephenT7! Welcome to TT! Firstly I plan on going to Fiji then hopefully Tahiti, American Samoa, Tonga Did you look for flights among the destinations you quoted? To go from Fiji to Tahiti you would need to change planes in New Zealand... You should also look for the schedule for each route in order to know if you would need to make overnight stops long the route. And, of course, look also for the flight fares to get an idea of how much would it cost... If you exclude Tahiti this time, you could make American Samoa-Samoa-Fiji-Tonga-Bangkok. There aren't direct flights from Tonga to Bangkok but you can make that route changing planes in Auckland or, if it's cheaper, in Sydney. In order to look for fares from Tonga to Bangkok, don't look only for fares with a single ticket but also for fares booking two separate tickets (one for each leg). | 1
You can more easily get from Fiji to Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, then on to PNG, but if you prefer Polynesia (your SP choices other than Fiji), you can get to Cook Islands from Fiji. Or you could, back when I did it, and I also flew direct from Samoa to Tonga, but that's probably changed now as well. | 2
you can get to Cook Islands from Fiji. Or you could, back when I did it, You can still make it. I also flew direct from Samoa to Tonga, but that's probably changed now as well. Yes, that's changed. There aren't regular commercial flights from Samoa to Tonga at the moment. Theoretically, Polynesian Airlines is allowed to make charter flights between both countries, just in case the OP wanted to get in touch with them to ask about that option. | 3
There hasn't been a direct air link between Fiji and Rarotonga for some years. Between Tahiti and Rarotonga there is a weekly flight operated by Air Tahiti, and twice weekly during peak winter season (now). There are flights between Auckland and Honolulu. | 4
There hasn't been a direct air link between Fiji and Rarotonga for some years You are right. I misread what Watsoff wrote on #2 and I thought s/he was talking about French Polynesia. Probably the reference s/he made to Polynesia misleaded me. Sorry for my mistake. | 5
Not sure where you are starting from, but if it is North America you could have a look at this route. From LA to Tahiti - New Caledonia - Vanuatu - Fiji - from here you would have the option to get to Hong Kong and on to Bangkok. If you want to continue exploring , from Fiji you can get to the Solomon Islands - Papua New Guinea and then on to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur with cheap flights to Bangkok. I realize it does not include all the places you are interested in but it would allow travel in one direction without any backtracking - however I have no idea if this would be cheaper than what you are interested in. Would love to hear what you finally decide on! | 6

Not a big problem though. | 7
Been busy the past few days but thanks for the reply! been very helpful!! I am flying from Glasgow so I was thinking of flying to Sydney then to Tonga then to Fiji and then meeting some friends for a holiday in Bangkok! Was hoping to visit a few more islands before going to Bangkok however as I am a student with a part time job my funds will only stretch so far and maybe for my first time travelling a few places might be best! So I will just see how that goes and hopefully between now and the time I book up I can find a few cheaper places to visit! Again if any of you guys can advise really cheap places to visit I would be forever grateful because I am up for travelling anywhere!! Thanks again guys been brilliant with the advice!! | 8
