Traveling Solo to Samoa in AugustCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
I'm a male traveling solo to Samoa from August 23rd to August 30th, 2008 and I was looking for local tour operators in the Island who provide adventure tours or multi day tours at affordable prices (anything outdoors such as hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoing, camping, snorkeling, beginner's diving, nature sightseeing, etc). I am an active independent traveler, and I always travel with my other three friends, but they were not able to make it this time, so, I'm looking to join others via a tour company for an adventure....
There were some "light" tour operators in Samoa (or were, one of the main ones, Green Turtle is now defunct) offering tours of the islands, seeing the major sites but nothing too physical. There are specific companies that cater to specific interests... There are some that offer kayaking tours, fishing, diving/snorkelling. I don't know of any offhand that offer all of what you're looking forward to together. These companies come and go very quickly, it seems... esp. dive operations. You can try www.polynesianxplorer.com. From my experience, a lot of activities are done independantly... For example, you may be on your own if you want to do some camping, rainforest treks, mountain biking. Your accommodation can also point you in the right direction and provide services. Best to Google and see what comes up. | 1
You could also check for tours upon arrival in Apia. Failing to find one that suits you, the best way to hook up with others would be to head somewhere touristy, like Lalomanu on Upolu or Manase on Sawaii. | 2
