Silly question here but the first time in fiji back in the mid 70's I ended up taking a trek across viti Levi which took several days and ended up staying in local villages and was wondering if there is still such a trek .thougt it might be a good idea to try it again .before I get to old .
I don't know what it was like in the 70's. It is still possible. However, there is a road into the interior which cuts down on walking time (was there a road back then? How many days in total?). From the end of one road to the start of another it is now perhaps 2-3 days, with overnight in a couple of villages. I believe there are now guided excursions/tours that cover this. Does that make it (marginally) more commercialized than what you're familiar with? I suppose a person can still walk the route on their own if they wish | 1
