Trip Report---Thorn Tree 4

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi---
Well, our efforts to get the TT4 to be as good as TT3 don;t seem to be going anyhwere. BUT---I think I have figured out that if one titles a post as a "Trip Report" then it somehow says that people have answered it in the last day or two, even though no answers have been posted in over a month!!!

Jirikoo posted a "Trip Report" about Samoa back in October. The last reply was mine, also in October. YET---it shows me replying in late November!!!

So, let's hope this "Trip Report" on TT4 stays around for a while at the top!!!

Oh, my "Trip Report" on TT4 is as follows:

"I went to the land of TT$ with my eyes open, and hoped it was an improvement on it's nearby cousin, TT3. However, I was very disappointed. I would suggest people avoid going to TT4. It is a place where nothing seems to make sense, "New Coke" is the most popular drink, and the people at Customs and Immigration don't care if you come or go. They provide little information. The street signs are very confusing, often pointing to places that don't exist.

The currency is 1$ BBC = 4 US$ .

The national flag highlights a dollar sign taking up 90% of a computer screen.

As for politics, it is what is called a "materialistic dictatorship", e.g. a place where there is not even a hint of social responsibility, the almighty BBC dollar rules everything.

So, think twice before going there. It is easy to get to, but that doesn't mean it is worth the trip.

Raro

There was a typo in my above post. I inadvertantly held the "Shift" key down when I went to type the number "4" after the letters "TT".

What occurred could be symptomatic of this new LP TT bulletin board: instead of coming up as "TT4" it came up as "TT$" !!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I'm blown away by this TT4 fiasco - what an absolute mess. I took Raro's advice and PM'd whoever it was he suggested one complains to, and I don't think I was very polite.

Does anyone know how to find the old Today section? The right hand column on the screens now takes up so much space it is no longer enjoyable browsing the posts, it takes too long to scroll, and I can't seem to get anything in a convenient order. But that's probably because I can't be bothered trying to figure the mess out.

Sorry, rant over but not forgotten.

I guess tTT has to make a $ to repay the BBC but the SIZE of the pesky ads on the right of screen are truly annoying.

BTW , what does "tags" mean at the bottom of the screen?

3

I am just peeking in to see if those terrible adverts are still there.....ahhhhh......I think I shall go back and sulk in the corner! I miss our old TT.

Hi there again. Had to come back after reading a bit of advice on the Older travelers site. If you have a hard time reading that small cramped message site you can press on the control button and the + button and the letters get bigger....after a few presses the letters get so big that those adverts are bumped right out of the picture and you feel like you are back on the old TT. :0)

Unfortunately ctrl+ doesn't work for me.

6

Went back and tried the text size under "view" on my control panel, but that only changed the size of the text, not the columns.

Hey Taranaki - I did it - I'm old - (no oldish) I get what you mean, but I saw too much, I had to take my glasses off. Then I thought if I covered too much with the big letters, I might miss something I was supposed to see on the right hand side, that I didn't want to see before I changed it to big letters - if you get my drift.
One has to keep a sense of humour, but I still don't like this new TT4.
