Trip to Vanuatu

We are planning a trip to Vanuatu for approx 10-14 days. We are keen snorkellers, love the natural environment and meeting the local people. Can anyone recommend cool unusual places to stay with good snorkelling handy, not too touristy, pref not lots of children. We expect to stay several nights near port Vila (pref not too close to city) but rest out on islands - more remote is better but not too expensive.
