Has anyone here tried the new Global Entry program?
Global Entry has been around for quite a while now. Note that it is only available to US citizens incl. Green Card Holders, Canadians and Dutch. It makes immigration a lot easier, especially in places such as Miami. | 1
I know... have you tried it? | 2
I have tried and tested it. It was very convenient in Miami. On our way out, however, the uniform told us that our airline did not participate (LAN). He let us proceed to the check point anyway, so we avoided the long line. There we had to go through the regular check with x-ray and shoes off. | 3
NukuHiva2.... so it was good to go for outbound customs processing but not the security check? I'm hoping the Global Entry pass will allow us to use the PreCheck processing line as well as the express line in the Customs re-entry process. Have you re-entered the US using your Global Entry card yet? | 4
Maybe, I should add that I have a US passport. I used global entry when reentering the USA in Miami, very convenient and fast. At the beginning of my trip to Peru, when I was leaving Miami for Lima, at the security check, I went to the separate line for global entry. The officer at the entry looked at my boarding pass and saw that it was for LAN. He said that this airline does not participate in the global entry program, but he let me proceed to the actual check-point. There was absolutely nobody in my global entry line, but the regular line was very long. I was able to skip that long line, but I had to go through the normal check-point, shoes off etc. I definitely saved time using global entry. | 5
