VAIALA BEACH COTTAGES, APIA.

Does anyone have experience they could pass on regarding Vaiala Beach Cottages ? It's beyond Seaside Inn and Pololo the deep. The website looked nice with private units. the price was USD $50 single and $75 double which seemed weird since there are no meals involved. I'm 60, husband's older. The $50 price would be perfect for our budget. We're torn about also staying at a beach fale (toilet issues) for a few days. We'll be in Samoa 2 weeks. on savaii i picked Savaii Lagoon Resort which i haven't seen mentioned here either. savaii will be the most expensive place of our whole trip (raro, ait, cairns and samoa) and i wonder if that is the right place to splurge. Your insight and opinions on any/all my choices will be most appreciated - thank you!!!

Stayed at Vaiala beach cottages for 6 weeks one year and they were fine. We are similar ages to yourselves and snorkeled at Palolo Deep every day.
There are a few Mosquito's at Vaiala but the same apples to most places.
It is close enough to town to walk but the taxis were only about 4 Tala.
It proved a good reasonably priced base to stay long term in Apia having also stayed at Aggie Greys and Pasefika Hotels in the past.
Did not have a problem with the local dogs and found a great restaurant (Chopsticks) just out the gate, turn left and 100 meters to the right at the next intersection.
Have not stayed at a beach Fale but have used some toilet facilities and they were not what we would want to use.
Savaii is worth a visit but we did not stay there.
