Hi, I've not been to Vanuatu before, but have spent lots of time in Samoa. In Samoa you can catch a bus around the island, and get off at nameless little spots on the beach with fales where someone brings you food a few times a day, all for about $20. Can I do this in Vanuatu? What would I expect to pay? Happy to have a pretty basic set up. Thanks, Jen
The islands of Samoa are much smaller than the main ones of Vanuatu, so the place will have quite a different atmosphere. It would not be possible to get any transport "around the island". Also, the people are Melanesian, not Polynesian. | 1
No way. Totally different. Travel around the main island isn't really easy unless you rent a car. Otherwise you can hitch a ride or beg a ride on a market truck. There are a few guesthouse on the north side of Efate, and maybe they could arrange transport for you? But it would likely cost. Unfortunately, at least of Efate, it just really isn't easy to do what you are talking about. | 2
Does Efate actually have a road all the way around? Vanuatu must be much more developed than Solomon Islands then. | 3
Yeah.....it has a "road". You really need 4wd though, and it just skirts the coastline. | 4
