Reading the Pacific Beat notes on the right side of your link- typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamies, more typhoons- it is a very active time there in the pacific seismically and weatherwise. The local weathermen are probably exited about it all- I remember talking to them in Palau and mostly they lived a life of utter boredom- the forecast for the day, almost every day, was: 85 degree highs, 85 % humidity, 85% chance of some rain in the afternoon. Even an earthquake was a welcome change!
