| fearfulsymmetry01:16 UTC16 Jul 2007 | Hi all I'm heading up to Vava'u next week to get away from work and the world. Planning on staying 5-7 days there and few in Lifuka on the way down. Can anyone point me at the best, quietest, cheapest (I want it all) place to stay in Vava'u? I'm not really a party guy: my main goal is sleep. This is a spur-of-the-moment thing and money is not unlimited :-) I've been to Tonga before but not Vava'u so any tips are welcome. FS

In town, the Adventure Backpackers is pretty good value, but again, there can be a bit of noise on weekends. Check out the Hilltop Lodge/motel, he might have a few bargains if it's not busy. It's a few blocks from the center of town, but up a little hill, so quieter, and good views.

There are a few cheap huts outside of town for rent but without a car you're stuck relying on trucks/hitching into town for supplies.
Vava'u ain't for the impecunious.
