Visa on Arrival

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi, I am an American who is planning to visit PNG next August, and I've heard (read) that it's possible to obtain a visa on arrival at the Port Moresby Airport after flying in from Cairns. From there I hope to travel north to Vanimo and then cross into Indonesia overland. I have a couple of visa-related questions:
1) How long does the Visa on Arrival last, and how much does it cost?
2) What will I need to show at immigration to get a Visa on Arrival? Any need for a flight out? Will I need to inform them that I plan to exit the country overland?
Thank you in advance for whatever information you can provide. Ochieano

An onward ticket is legal requirement for entry into all Pacific island nations, and you may not even be allowed to board your flight to PNG without one.
It is a pain if you want to exit overland, in which case the most simple solution is a refundable onward ticket.
