Wedding in the Pacific IslandsCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
My fiance and I are looking at getting married somewhere in the Pacific Islands, but we're not sure which ones. It'll be in Nov-Dec, so tropical weather will obviously be an issue. We are backpackers and want to get off the beaten track a bit, so don't want it to be a packaged touristy thing, but have to keep in mind parents etc who will probably want some mod cons. Does anyone have any suggestions on places that have a bit of everything, and aren't too vulneable to tropical storms/cyclones etc during that time of year? Any help is much appreciated.
You could look at Uepi, in the Solomon Islands (www.uepi.com). I was there a few years ago when a couple got married and it was amazing. There are some photos on the website. They were a couple from England and they brought parents/family as well. All loved the resort. I've heard that they've been back to celebrate their first wedding anniversary since then - so I guess they really did love their time there. Uepi is small - only takes about 20 or so guests, so is not too "touristy. | 1
Couples from New Zealand and Australia often get married in Niue. 3 hours from Auckland. Budget to hotel accommodation. The Niue tourism office will tailor it for you - send you in the right direction. | 2
