What kind of Currency use in fiji?

My boyfriend and I are going to Fiji for 2 weeks and we have paid for 7 nights accommodation already. We are coming from the UK. Just wondering if anyone has advice as to what kind of currency to take / travellers cheques. Should we take Fiji dollars? or US dollars? or I have just read somewhere to take sterling?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sterling is acceptable, as are most hard currencies. You're probably better off buying Fiji dollars in Fiji rather than in the UK.

There's a bank open 24/7 in the airport to get you started.

Try to minimize your currency exchanges, you will usually lose 5% or so on each one. If you have sterling, just use that and change at Nadi, as suggested above. Do NOT buy US dollars unless absolutely necessary! By the time you use them they will have eroded even further! (As a Yank I am allowed to disparage my own currency, as I am suffering from its downslide!)
