Whatever Happened to Raro?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

He hasn't been seen in these parts for months now.....

Hey Raro!!! WHERE YOU AT?
:)

1

I've been wondering the same thing. Would the real Raro please step forward.

2

sold his hotel?
back in the usa?

3

I think all the regulars on this forum are wondering and missing Raro's inputs!

4

I heard an unsavoury rumour that he's being detained in the Port Moresby jail for causing a disturbance on an airline flight. The way I heard it, he was trying to import contraband White Owl cigars...

Of course, I'M KIDDING!

Warm regards (with a chuckle!),
Mark

I've also been wondering what has become of Raro. My husband and I got to visit with Elliot last September and hand over some White Owls as a thank you for all his help on this forum.

Perhaps an email to Shangrila might illuminate us?

Great idea Rob - have just emailed him at work...am hoping some light is shed on his whereabouts... i will post here any response I get. I met Elliot with my husband a few years ago and went to say thank you to him for all his advice for planning our trip. What an awesome guy (and brilliant property in the cooks - shangri-la @ muri lagoon).

Come back Raro, we miss you!!

I imagine (hope) that he is traveling somewhere remote. Looking forward to his return and his knowledgeable, detailed posts.

RARO!!! RARO!!! RARO!!!

Hi everyone - response as per my previous post: although Raro/Elliot may have moved on from his business, i'm sure he will return to TTW soon to continue offering his advice and wisdom soon to those who ask...it just wouldn't be the same without him.

Kia orana Julia & Heath,

Yes, Elliot is alright, well he was last time I saw him which was late February. My husband and I have just bought Shangri-la Beach Cottages from Elliot and he has now returned to the USA I believe to visit his parents. I am unsure of his whereabouts or contact details. I am sure he will return to your forum at some time in the future. We would love to participate in your forum as it sounds very interesting - what is the address details?

For your interest and other members of the Lonely Planet forum, we have changed the name of Shangri-la Beach Cottages and renamed it Muri Beach Resort . We invite you and other members of your forum to visit our website to see what we have to offered here. We now have additional facilities and services for the guests' use and enjoyment whilst maintaining the relaxed, peaceful ambience that Elliot encouraged.

If I do happen to hear from him I will pass on your concerns.

Kia manuia,

Jane Pearson

Good for Raro.
Last July he told me, that when Shangril-la sold he would spend his time between the US and Rarotonga. Sho hopefully he pops back in here to say hi.
