When's best to travel Fiji and Hawaii

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi,

I've got a RTW ticket I need to use before Christmas for Fiji and Hawaii. I had originally planned to go in May-June but had to change my plans....
Does anyone know if between Sept and Dec is any good ???

Lots of fresh mangos in Fiji in October, if I recall correctly... and the weather was nice.
I wish I could help you more.
Have you checked the "When to go" sections of the guidebooks? They are usually pretty helpful for telling you what its like.

1

It starts getting hotter and more humid in Fiji about early November. So, I'd head there earlier rather than later.

2

We just go anytime and have never had a problem in the Mamanuca's .
Taveuni rained all day every day but it is the Garden Isle.
Hawaii is usually fine any time of year as well.

Thanks guys, so far October is the way to go then :) Will do have a look in the guidebook too just in case..

We had great weather in Fiji in Sept but were only in the Yasawas and the Nadi coast - humidity was low, didn't need A/C. Hawaii is fine year round as smandkjc notes - Oct/Nov though is subject to more north swells which will bring high surf and little swimming.

In Hawaii we base our seasons on fruit. For instance, green mango season, lychee season etc... As for weather the only thing to say is that sometimes it rains... but if it does just cross the street it's most likely not raining there. Try to avoid the summer time between May thru August... it's when school is out for most of the kids... (they're all on weird schedules)... the beaches, malls and everywhere else will be less crowded. OH! and when holidaying in Hawaii try to get OUT of waikiki... it's cool to walk through for a little bit... but it's sad that people think all we're good for is waikiki and the north shore.

Ahah Lisa, I like the idea of crossing the road to avoid the rain :)
I definately wanna get out and explore so I might get back to you for advice when I know the time I'm traveling if that's alright!
Any good surf comp to watch in Oct/Nov ??

Triple Crown is the biggest surf competition down here. www.triplecrownofsurfing.com (this is the website) of course you can get back to me on advice. :) as for the rain... it really is like that... i grew up on the windward side my whole life... if you are a pretty fast walker... you can literally out walk the rain at times.
