Where is everyone?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Are all the regulars somewhere in the Pacific, or is there a boycott going on?
Hope your knee gets better soon! Edited by: islandboi321 | 1
Like islandboi I miss the spontaneity (and set-up) of the old TT3 and of the other 'disappeared' posters. I sort of find this board a bit boring now. | 2
I, for one, am in New Guinea where internet access is sparse. | 3
Thanks, guys. That is the first time I have got to use the rating system. | 4
Haven't seen it - but may have seen the person, as I was in Jayapura yesterday! :-) | 5
Ok, just checked. | 6 | |
Small world, even in the wilds of Papua. | 7
Hi Guys, I'm still around, but TT is just not the same! Still read the posts but I just haven't got the same motivation to participate in the banter that I had with the old TT. Haven't given up on the Pacific Islands though - returned from 2 weeks in Vanuatu in March & hope to head out to Noumea, then Lifou in October. | 8
Hi guys. I'm still around - not a big fan of the new TT, but also been a bit distracted by some family issues over the last few months. Will try to pop in a bit more regularly, but there are no islands on my horizon and my last one was nearly two years ago, so I'm a bit out of touch. I am, however, stunned by news of the grandeur of the upcoming coronation in Tonga (end of July), and the news that a gold sceptre based on QE2's has been cast in Britain for King George. It's almost as if he wants to be the last King of Tonga! Rob | 9
I guess my concern is that there is no other forum which gives decent information on Solomon Islands, which is my area of particular interest. And Trip adviser isn't nearly as user friendly to me, with much less information about the less travelled places. | 10
Helen, It's far too late to be up! goodnight, Rob | 11
Hi, Bendigo. Thanks for the reply. I would give you a gold star, too, but don't have any left (they are a bit mean with them). | 12
Just returned from family beach wedding down in Jamaica. The Jamaicans are very friendly, but....the Island can not compare beauty wise to the Islands of the South Pacific. | 13
Don't know if I'm considered a regular but I pop in every day(when not traveling) and try to help out where I can. We recently returned from a 5 week trip to Asia(our first) and were surprised by how much we enjoyed the cities we visited. Normally we gravitate to the tropics with the sun, sand and sea being high on our list. Palau was supposed to on our agenda this past trip but with Asian Spirit canceling their flight from Manila we didn't make it. So now I'm trying to figure out how to justify the high cost of getting there with Continental. Hubby is talking about London and Paris (have never been to Europe) and it would be so much cheaper for us, but my heart is still in the South Pacific. | 14
My heart has not been in it since the downgrade. I don't feel a sense of ownership or community anymore. | 15
I realised that not many threads are being answered lately and would almost say that not as many threads are coming in as there used to be. So maybe that is a result of the new outfit of TT - which I tried to get used to but still don't like. | 16
I'm in Aussieland on Business. Back home soon. | 17
Thanks everybody - at least I know there is life in the old site yet. I was getting worried about the number of answered questions. Edited by: Ozziegiraffe | 18
Just managed to successfully use the edit function, after it was offline for a few days. | 19
This new TT does not seem as easy to navigate, etc., and it's a bit of hassle. Used to be simple to get on, throw in a few tidbits, and get out, now it takes too long, too much extra crap like ratings, etc., do I want new postings or recently-replied first, etc. But I'll pop in from time to time. hope all are doing well! | 20
Still checking regularly - but more often found on TripAdvisor these days! | 21
me still checking contents regularly, despite the fact im already back from my trips - back home in europe...i miss Pacific, thats for sure... | 22
Hi I used to go on TT a lot, but now its been months. I just spent a few weeks travelling around the coast of California. (and a business trip to Texas) Am trying to decide if I am going to French Polynesia this July. I booked it with miles, but funds are low. I have the Poly flu but tight budgets take some of the fun out (Pearl shopping). Aloha, Joan | 23
I was once , I think, considered a regular. I still check in from time to time (once or twice a week?), whereas I used to pop in at least once or twice daily Like Fernsie, Im still a PI fan and in fact will be in Fiji in July. | 24
Am just popping in to see how things are in Polynesia. I do not visit this site so much these days.....I think because it has been about 2 years since I was last in the south sea islands and I feel like I do not have up to date info to share. Hopefully a long trip next year to at least Samoa will help me get up dated. Have been mainly traveling in the mainland USA and Canada this year. I have also found Davesgarden.com where I spend my computer time these days. If you are a gardener check it out....people from around the world sharing gardening advice. Aloha | 25
I know Davesgarden.com well, taranaki!! | 26
Am not surprised that you would know Davesgarden islandboi......the green industry man that you are. I am too cheap to pay for the paying sites on it but I enjoy the freebies like seed propagation and tropical plants as well as the daily articles. Aloha | 27
