Where should I spend Christmas in Fiji??? And New Year in Sydney??

I'm a solo backpacker and am 23.. I've decided to spend possibly 2 weeks over christmas and new year in fiji but have no idea where to start! I wouldnt mind forking out a tiny bit more money than i usually would to relax in paradise over christmas eve, christmas day and boxing day. However if there is more of a party/backpacker scene over christmas i'd love to find it and spend christmas with fellow backpackers. I know fiji will be popular with families and honeymooners during that time so i'd love to avoid that scene. so to sum it up i'd either like to have christmas in a quiet place relaxing by myself (minus the families) or partying until the early hours! help!

a roast with all the trimmings wouldnt go amiss either.

Would i be better going to sydney for new year or is it overrated??

Not sure about Fiji, but Sydney is probably already booked solid for New Year. And anyone taking bookings will only book you for a whole week.
