Where to stay in Nadi

Hi

Hope some one will be able to help. We are heading to Fiji in a month to spend 10 days there. We are looking for accommodation in Nadi for the first nite but everywhere we have gone on to is either way out of town or the comments have been really bad. Can anyone suggest somewhere that is in town and clean, we are looking for budget but we dont mind paying a bit more if it is recommended.

Also we wuld like to island hop, is there any good companys that you recommend as we would not like to stay in Nadi for the whole time. Or any good places we could stay the whole holiday for.

This is a case of definition: what is town? (as often in Fiji! If you say "town" people expect it to be a big city)
Most hostels/hotels are out of DOWN town, so is Nadi Bay hotel and Aquarius and Horizon (New Town Beach/Martintar all suburbs and NOT considered down town), they are located approx 1/2 way from Nadi Airport and Nadi DOWN town. If you meassure from Nadi Airport to Nadi DOWN town (google earth) you find it's about 9 km.
I'm sure you prefer staying in one of those places then directly in Nadi Down town. (And Nadi DOWN town is not longer than max. 2 km and not the place I would choose).

Depending on your budget you have heaps of choices! What's your plan after the 1st night, this might also help with finding the right place for you.

Thanks for the tips, we are planing to stay in Nadi for 1 nite then we are wanting to head off to one of the islands, we have 10 days in fiji, people have said doing a tour is a cheaper way, as all food transport is included and it works out cheaper. We are on quite a tight budget as we have overspend in other places we have visited and this is one of our last stop offs. Are there any islands that you recomend, as Yasawa islands and the Mamanucas sound great, are there any other places, we are not there to party or spend too much money.
