which countries to visit

Hi all,

I'm going to be in Fiji for a few weeks and thought that whilst there, I might as well make trips to some of the other island-countries in the vicinity. Tonga definitely appeals, so I'll definitely head there. But I'm trying to decide which other countries to visit. I'm not into beaches per se, so am not fussed about seeing that sort of thing.

As an approximation, which countries are more backpacker-price friendly? For examply, in Fiji, it's not so difficult to find a bed for $20.00 a night. Are there any other countries where I could reasonably expect to pay a similar price?

After Fiji, Tonga is the cheapest country in the region, so it is a good choice in that respect, too.

Though more expensive to live in, Vanuatu is also cheap to fly to from Fiji, and probably offers more to see and experience than Tonga. It has bigger, wilder islands with much more cultural diversity.
