10 Days in Vanuatu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hello All,

My girlfriend and I (early 20's) are heading over to Vanuatu in July for 10 days.

Ideally we would love a chill on the beach, to experience some of their culture and it would be awesome to give scuba diving a go (All on a 20 y/o's budget of course!)

I really want to know what is the best island for us? Will 10 days be enough to go around to a couple different islands?

If someone has done something similar it would be great to know what you did?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
James.

Without a doubt head to (Espiritu) Santo!!! Most amazing place to dive- old troop carrier from the war is amazing. You can just do intro dives or do your course which is pretty cheap really. It's about $500? There are plenty of opportunities to head around the island on the back of market trucks and you could just ask locals at the markets if there is a guest house in their village. That way you would get a bit of the culture, a local connection to talk to and a fun experience! It is also cheap! Another cheap accom option is Unity Park Motel in the centre of town! Very cheap and they are lovely! Not bad conditions either!

Let me know if you have any questions. I spent a bit of time on Santo and other islands.

Yes, Santo is your best bet.
And, along with Efate/Vila, it could easily fill your 10 days!

Santo is the best island in Vanuatu and for accommodation, you can also check out Turtle Bay lodge as it is reasonably priced and best for budget travelers.

If you are to go to Port-Vila on the island of Efate, i highly suggest that you head over to Cascade Waterfalls. Definitely an experience not worth missing. Also, about 1 hour out from Port Vila is a beach called 'Eton Beach'. If you are looking for a relaxing beach it is a beautiful hidden spot.
