4 Weeks on Pacific IslandsCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu
Hi! | ||
Frederik, I notice from your profile that you are from Germany. Maybe you would be interested in visiting Berlin in Solomon Islands (very different from the one in Germany). | 1
Hi ! | 2 | |
In that case, you may definitely be interested in the parts of Solomon Islands where culture is still much the same as it has been for hundreds of years, and diving is not available. | 3
I've been to Vanuatu but not any of the other places mentioned. From everything I've heard though Vanuatu has more traditional and exotic culture than either Fiji, Tonga or the Solomons | 4
I would suggest that Vanuatu and Solomon Islands have a similar variety of cultural traditions. Solomon Islands is bigger, and is also the only Pacific country that has traditional Melanesian, Polynesian and Micronesian cultural groups in the one country. | 5
I have only been to Vanuatu and then mainly Tanna island. I can highly recommend this place. It is very beautiful with amazing scenery and you can take tours to two different kastom villages (the traditional villages - I recommend Yakel) as well as visit the Jon Frum site and join in with a celebration (although unfortunately we didn't get to this but I heard it was interesting). And there is an erupting volcano if that takes your fancy, where you can see lava spewing out of a crater. Very spectacular and exciting. It is a bit more expensive to get an interisland flight than just going to Port Vila, but I think it is really worth it. We absolutely loved Tanna island. | 6
Both the Solomons and Vanuatu could keep you busy for 28 days easily, as could Fiji. Tonga should come last on your list. | 7
vanuatu could keep you busier for even longer than 28 days, was there for 6 weeks and it wasnt enough | 8
