Accommodation in EfateCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu
Myhusnad, son (10yrs old) and I are looking foreward to spending two weeks in Efate, early January. We are thinking about staying at A Room With a View in Port Villa for three or four days and then travelling to Pele or a neighboring island to stay in a bungalow. Would love to hear about your accommodation ideas or which island we should visit.
My daughters and I stayed at Room With View a couple of months ago. It is in a good location just 10 or so minutes walk from the centre of Port Vila. It is clean, the beds and linen are good and the rooms are a good size. I am not sure if this is the case with all rooms but we had a fridge and a two burner gas stove in the room. Cooking equipment was a bit limited. Upstairs where the guest rooms are has a very wide balconey that really does have a great view. It is a bit hot in the afternoon but we enjoyed sitting and playing cards and talking in the cool of the evening. I gather that they have wifi too so you can do your computer thing if you have one with you. We stayed at the end of our 2+ week trip to Vanuatu and for me it was much better than the 5 nights we spent at the ex Le Meridian - now The Palms. On or is it off Efate we also stayed one night at Hideaway which I also really liked but it is much more pricey. Best time for us was at Tanna. The active volcano was abslutely awesome. If I was going back there I would take some luxuries and stay at the Port Resolution Yatch Club for a few days. That side of the island has some sandy beaches and lovely views. We stayed most of the time at Sunset Bungalows on the opposite side if the island. Tanna has dirt roads and there is not exactly a restuarant culture. We ate at the Bungalows every night we were there (we thought yummy but plain food) and had lunch a couple of times at other establishments. One lunch was at a "cafe" in "town". There were two choices on the menu. chicken or mince. PM if you want more details. | 1
