Advice for activities during placement

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

My friends and I are doing a medical elective placement for 4 weeks at Vila Central Hospital, Port Villa in January 2015. We will be working/helping at the hospital Mon-Fri during the day but will have some afternoons, most evenings and weekends off so we're looking for some advice on what to do with our spare time.

Demographics- Four medical students, early twenties.
Looking for- fun/adventure activities, local pubs and food places, recommended beaches
Some ideas we have- visiting Mele Cascades, Hideaway Ideas, Tanna Island volcano, zorbing

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi James,

We're actually just putting together some destination content on Vanuatu. It's not officially live yet but here's a sneak peek.

On the list:
- Mount Yasur volcano on Tanna (a must do!)
- Dive SS Coolidge (you will need your PADI qualification which you can do at Nautilus in Port Vila)
- Millennium Cave Tour (on Santo though so prob best for a weekend trip away combined with Santo attractions below)
- Mele Cascades
- Little Beach (Tanna)
- Matevulu Blue Hole
- Mount Hope Waterfall (Santo)
- Champagne Beach (Santo)
- The Summit Gardens
- Ekasup Village

Vanuatu is a fantastic country. You're going to have a blast!
