Air Vanuatu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hello

I am arriving soon to Vanuatu and I would like to fly to Tanna on the following day of my arrival.
Although in my home country at the moment, I would like to know if it is advisable to make a purchase of a return ticket via the Air Vanuatu website.
Is it possible ? Will it guarantee me a free seat when flying the next day to Tanna ? Or should I just wait till I arrive to Port Vila and then make the air ticket purchase ?
My time in Vanuatu is a bit tight and it is a pity to waste any day.
What do you suggest ?

Thanks,
Eli

Greetings,

if you have time constraints, better to buy ticket in advance. I've done it and it was OK.

I've arrived in Tanna not having booked accommodation and just arranged it with folks who were waiting for other tourists, but I'd advise you to arrange accommodation before landing. Tanna is a very underdeveloped place and you don't wanna get stuck.

Tanna is one of the most wonderful places I've ever visited. I've stayed at the horrible (but conveniently located) bangalows (the one closest to the volcano) and walked up the volcano every day. Just couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't my first volcano, but it was very special.

A walk to to the bay is also a must.

If you wanna eat somewhere, warn them. There is no food if you just pop by.

If you dive, don't miss the USS Coolidge at the other island (Espiritu Santu). Cannyoning there was also an outworldly experience.

Vanuatu: as far as I'm concerned, paradise on earth. Tanna is so special, I can't put it into words.

Don't forget headlamp and raincoat.

Thank you Viajar.
I am so excited......I fly to Vanuatu tomorrow........
One more thing.....Are US Dollars possible to change to local currency ?
What currency should I bring with me ?

I had euros, but I'm sure dollars will be OK. I'd change everything (I mean everything you'll need for Tanna) in Port Villa (capital).
