Baby supplies in Port Vila

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hi there

We are travelling to Vanuatu for the first time in a couple of weeks and will have a 6 month old baby boy with us - Callum. We are staying at La Lagoon in Port Villa.

Just wondered whether anyone could let me know what it's like picking up baby food and nappies out there. I guess there must be a supermarket or pharmacy in the centre of town but would like confirmation of the best place to go to get these and what to expect to pay.

Cheers

Jon

The best supermarket in Vila is Bon Marche at Nambatu right at the start of Pango Road. You could walk there from Le Lagon in 15 mins or just walk along the main street and up the hill. Unfortunately it is uphill all the way from both but the scenery is nice. There are two huge pharmacies in the one way section of the main street, one on each side.

Maybe take a bus the first time so you learn where it is. Avoid cabs. Those guys are thieves.
