best beach (and resort) on Port VillaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu
Can anyone provide me with recommendations on where I can find the best beach on the "mainland" (Port Villa)? I don't have that much time or $$ to spend on flying to Tana, and I was looking for a great resort on a primo beach where i can just get some R&R and read my book and go for a swim. I looked into Brekas already, but they charge $300AUD a night! A wee bit steep for my price range!
My vote goes for Erakor Island - obviously, it's not strictly on the "mainland", but then it's just a VERY short hop by frequent, free transport. | 1
Erakor is quite laid back, reasonably priced and in a handy location, but , for mine, not such great beaches. | 2
Erakor's beach may not be among the country's best, but for a country's capital city it's not bad either... | 3
also anyone looking for this kind of thing don't forget ... would you look for a resort in australia, or florida, or any beachy town in the "first" world, where you could stroll from your room right onto the sand for less than $300 a night? vanuatu might be a pacific island but the prices are adjusted for the tourist market. tourists love beachfront rooms, therefore, prices skyrocket. if your budget is lower than that, try being a block or two from the sand. won't kill you. | 4
