Best Restaurant for Vanuatu Steak?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Heading to Vanuatu next week and I'm looking forward to the trip. I've read in the LP Vanuatu book that they have one of the best steaks because of the natural feed their cows eat.

Any recommendation as to which restaurant has the tastiest steak dish?

Thanks! =)

The only place that I can remember eating steak in Vila is at the Waterfront, and they were really good. It is a nice place to hang out anyway, since it is on the water and attracts tourists, yachties, and also lots of local expats. The food is good, the staff is really nice, they have live music, all the seating is outside or open to the outside. Oh, and their coconut cake is amazing. Be sure not to miss that. It is in Vila as you head up the hill to towards the cultural center/ Pango village.

There is at least a few places at the waterfront. I think you are referring to the one that has buzzers at the tables and live music? I think it was called Waterfron Grill.

Yeah, it is likely called the Waterfront Grill. It is down a sloped parking lot off the main road next to a dive shop. I am pretty sure if you just tell the bus driver that you want to go to the Waterfront- or the waterfron restaraunt- that you will end up in the right spot. Don't forget the coconut cake.

You do know about Vila's amazing "bus" system, right? 100 vatu (at least it was last time I was there in 2005) on any minivan type thing marked with a B on the tags will drop you wherever you want to go in Vila.

Have a blast! I am so homesick for Vanuatu....

Yes, the Waterfront Grill does good meals. And while you are there check out the cat if it is still around. It gets on the bar and rings the bell.
