Hello, in which Islands in Vauatu, special in Efate and others are resorts, guesthouses and others, where it is possible to camp with your own tent. We hear, that there are many places on Tanna, but if you now a good place, please give us recommendation.
A few places like Lonnoc on Santo allow camping, typically for 500-1000 VT. | 1
If there is a western style camping ground in Vanuatu I've never seen it. You could always camp in the jungle I guess. If you do that, be sure to have some gifts ready in case the owner of the land challenges you. On Efate he will want cash but on the outer islands they will take groceries. I use bricks of coffee. Payment of rent really is ancient Ni Vanuatu custom. In the old days it was pigs or chickens. If you use cash, offer 500 and don't pay over 1000 for a few days. I have to ask "Why bother?" In summer it can rain every day. Is there anything worse than sitting in a tent on a rainy day? How about renting a bungalow? They are only 2500/person/night and you get food, toilet, shower and most importantly a mosquito net. There are bungalows on every island although none close to Vila. The owners will show you around the area for free. | 2
Treestops hotel in Port Vila let me camp in my own tent in the garden for half the price of a room, as did the guest house in South West Bay on Malekula. Somewhere in North Ambrym also did but I can't remember the name now. | 3
