Christmas in Vanuatu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

G'Day amigos..

Was hoping I could get a little advice on a three-week trip to Van arriving Dec 21 with my girlfriend..
We've booked a couple of nights stay in Port Vila upon arrival but are then uncertain how to proceed! A trip incorporating relaxation & adventure is required.. I've heard that going north is warmer with more mosquitoes & cyclones, whereas New Caledonia is more expensive & without soul? As we're on about $400 AUS each per week, will we be able to find accommodation easily? I was thinking of taking a tent but obviously not in a damp cyclone with a million mozzies!

The idea of visiting a live volcano on Tanna sounds awesome.. Is it easy to get flights to other islands whilst there or is this something that should be pre-booked? If so, could you suggest a sweet itinerary encompassing all of the above?

Apologies for my ignorance but I would be deeply grateful for any input you could offer.. just so stoked to be going on holiday!

Bless you!

I suggest you to read this just for reference. http://travelinhand.com/blog/articles/vacationing-in-vanuatu/</a>

I would think that if you are on a budget of $400/wk you might find thing a little difficult if you are including the cost of flying between island.

I found it very expensive compared to travelling in South East Asia.

The volcano in Tanna is indeed awesome but staying in a simple bungalow cost 10,000 vatu/night.

You might have to up your budget and maybe the tent is a good idea!
