Epi and Pentecost

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hi guys and girls,

Does any one have any info/advice about going to see the naghol independently - would it be possible to just rock up and pay the entrance fee there and then? Plus, has anyone stayed on Epi, we were thinking of flying into Valdesir (staying at the Epi Island Guesthouse) and fly out of Lamen Bay. Any comments on this and what are the Paradise Sunset Bungslows at Lamen like?

Cheers,

Rob.

P.S. I actually really liked Santo, although true Luganville isn't up to much.

As for the Naghol you wont have a problem, provided of course you go the right time of year. Head down to Pangi, ask for Chief Willy, and stay in his Bungalows (right on the beach), then you can go and see the Naghol in the morning.

This is a less touristed one, although there are better if you travel to the other side of the island, and a great experience.

Have fun bro

i havent stayed at epi island guesthouse but have stayed at paradise sunset bungalows. They are pretty basic beach huts with seperate shower and toilet blocks. but the value for money is fantastic-a room and three brilliant meals a day for very cheap. Lamen Bay itself is beautifull with fantastic snorkling (the bay is filled with turtles and there is a chance you might see bondas the friendly dugong) and various day trips you can take. the bngalows are at one end of lamen bay village, about a ten min walk from the airfield, so you have access to local shops and kava bars.

Chief Willy died earlier this year. His Bunaglows are still there and his wife Racheal or sons or daughter will happily take care of you. Another guesthouse that is in the "town" but still next to the beach is Clement's Nak Guesthouse. Either can be reached by telephone 38327, 38444,38120 a few days before you plan to head out!
