Erakor Island Resort

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Has anyone stayed here?

Having 5-6 nights in Vanuatu on a honeymoon, dont really want to be flying about all over the place, but am looking for little day trips to do. Any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers

I have not stayed there but did visit the island. I spent an afternoon in the bar reading the papers and having lunch which was very nice. The island is beautiful, very picturesque. The resort looked great, and I thought that when I go back I will stay at Erakor.

There is a little barge that goes backwards and forwards from the island regularly. To get to Port Vila you need to catch a taxi from the barge, but it's reasonably cheap and no hassle.

Thanks for the reply. I will update once we have decided what we are doing.

As the first poster, I visited but not stayed.
Really liked the island, despite the beach being more so-so than stunning, and it has a great location that feels remote yet is close to Vila at the same time.

I too visited as I was staying opposite. Had a nice feel about it. I would think it was a nice honeymoon destination. You could always go across to the hotel opposite for a special meal and return on the ferry.

Erakor is quite isolated making it difficult to get to and from. If you want an island resort near Vila you would be better off on Iririki. The price is a little higher but access is easy.

The foyer of every hotel in Vila has plenty of brochures offering day trips. You could always make your own by taking the bus to Pango. 100vt each way - nice beach.

Difficult to get to and from???

Oh dear, if you call a 10 minutes drive from the town centre, followed by a few minutes crossing of the calm sea difficult, then maybe...

I agree. It's not difficult to get to at all. And on 'island time', 10 minutes is nothing. And taxis and buses are cheap and plentiful. And I find it's nice to catch buses with the locals.

For a honeymoon I would much prefer Erakor over Irririki. Erakor surroundings are much more attractive than Port Vila and the centre of Port Vila is really quite ugly.

Erakor is for sale. Take your chequebook and make them an offer.

Ha. Will keep that in mind.

We are booked in anyway. Tune back in in a couple of months for our opinion.
