Getting to the Naghol on Pentecost island

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hello,

I'll be traveling on my own in Vanuatu for about 2 weeks around Easter (Easter is 22-25 April).

I would like to see the Naghol on Pentecost island.

What would be the best way to go and see the Naghol? I thought of these options:

1) try to get there independently (wouldn't know how to do that though)
2) wait until I arrive in Port Vila and book a tour there (would that be too late?)
3) book a tour over the phone from Australia where I live

Would love to hear from anyone who's been to see the Naghol on how they got there, who they did the tour with, etc.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Planes fly from Vila to Lonorore at 8.30 am on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

There is bungalow accommodation at Wali and Salap villages slightly south of the airport or you can go direct to the jump from the airport. The touts at the airport will find you. The jumping is on every Saturday starting next Saturday and ending on 25 June. Expect to pay about 5,000 just to watch and around 10,000 for a package including land transport and lunch. Accommodation in a bungalow will be around 3,500 pp/pn including food. Everything is cash only.

Prices on Pentecost increase enormously at this time of year.
