hi, we are heading to vanuatu for a 7 day honeymoon in late feb. We have been told different things about the resorts. We were told irririki was the best but now others are saying its not that good. We are looking at spending under 3K for 7 nights including airfares and transfers, but then we got told that was too dear and 2K was more reasonable. We are after waterfront fares, breakfast and a few inclusions (breakfree offers inclusions where irririki doesnt). Can anyone suggest an awsome honeymoon resort where we can easily get to porta villa or another town so we don't have to eat resort food every night. We want to see the country as well as relaxing on beautiful white beaches and sitting in our bungalow looking at water. Any suggestions of great and reasonably priced resorts would be a life saver at the moment. We are so confused. Not sure who to believe anymore. Cheers Ange Edited by: angpar Edited by: angpar
The best resort on Efate is Havannah but it is not close to Vila. The best value resort is Breakas which is on a beach. If you go to Iririki in February insist on a fare facing away from town which is South. The ones facing the town are much hotter at that time of year. You might also like Bokissa which is near Luganville. | 1
Thanks for the tips. Does anyone know if its cheaper to book through travel agent or online. I can get the cheap flights on line but the accomodation packages seem more expensive on line as apposed to travel agent? Cheers for any thoughts.. | 2
We stayed at Breakkas in September and we were very happy with it. Buffet breakfast is included and if you are wanting something a little bigger you have that option aswell. They also have themed nights there for entertainment. We went to both a Polynesian night and a Melanesian night. It was a nice way to get a little taste of what their culture is all about. There is a full menu for all 3 meals with a pretty good selection. If you do plan on booking an ocean view there, I would suggest booking early, as the rooms fill up fast. We booked online and it was very easy to do. You can always call a travel agent and see what they can do for you. If it's not a better deal, than just do it on your own. It is very easy to get to town from Breakkas. You can take a bus or a taxi right from the entrance of the resort. They both look the same except one has a "T" on the license plate and one has a "B" Just flag one down when you see one. You can take a bus into town for 200 Vatu each, I'm not sure what it costs to take a cab, but I know it is more (I suggest taking the bus) I'm not sure why people take cabs unless they need to be somewhere at a precise time. You can take a bus pretty much anywhere for 200 vatu. We even made a deal with a driver that for 5000 vatu he toured us around for the entire day. He took us to places that we otherwise would not have seen and he told us all about the different locations. People are very friendly and very helpful there. Just talk to people and they will be more than willing to help you out. If you have any more questions let me know. I absolutely LOVED it there, I'm sure you will too! | 3
In my experience it's cheaper to book online. But worth getting a comparison in case the travel agent has good value package deals. | 4
We've just returned from Surfside on Breakas (Previously Breakas Villas). | 5
There's a great choice on accommodation so I'm not surprised you're confused. The fares at Irikiki looked a bit tired when we looked at them, but the apartments are very modern. It's no longer a child free resort. Have you lookd at Eratap, Tamanu on the Beach, Erakor and Paradise Cove? You should also look on TripAdvisor on the Vanuatu forum. It's very active with lots of knowledgeable people and lots of reviews. | 6
I am a travel agent and have just returned from a seven day educational trip to Efate/Port Vila and Tanna Island. For me Breakas Beach with its beachfront Fares offered the best value for money on the island, with an ideal location, a lovely infinity pool, friendly service, and its proximity to Port Vila cannot be beaten. They do have some good inclusions and packages for Honeymooners as well. The best thing I liked about Breakas was the fact it was a very intimate experience unlike bigger resorts - in fact I spoke to at least three honeymooning couples during my stay, all of which were very pleased with the property. Booking online may appear cheaper, but there is no substitute for a travel agent to answer any questions you may have! | 7
