Luganville or Oyster Island?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hi, I'm in Santo for 4 nights with my wife and we are deciding on staying in Luganville or Oyster Island. It seems a shame to come to such a gorgeous place and stay in a town. If you can give me an idea on what is best, I'd really appreciate it. thanks,

oyster island or moyyan house by the sea or aore island resort are all very good options
personally, i wouldnt stay in luganville unless you are looking for a rustic experience

Thanks Nomoss, we are thinking of staying at Beachfront Resort (2 nights) and then go to Oyster Island (2 nights). We are looking to dive the first two days so it seems being close to Luganville will be the best. What do you think?

Definately get out of Luganville as soon as possible. I stayed at Oyster Island and it was lovely.

If you are diving, especially on the President Coolidge, then doing it from Luganville is best.

I stayed at Deco stop in Luganville. It is a good place for divers to stay. It's not on the waterfront, but casual with a nice vibe. Aore resort, which is on an island is supposed to be good too.

I loved Lonnoc Beach bungalows which is further away from Lunganville so probably not suited to your short trip. It is probably on the most beautiful bay in the south pacific. But the accommodation is very basic.
