motorbike hire vanuatu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hey there

Anyone know if it is possible to hire motorbikes/ scooters in Vanuatu (main island)????

Are touists with no bike licence generally permitted to do so?

thanks!

To be honest, I don't recall seeing too many motorbikes or scooters while I was in Port Vila a couple of weeks ago. I think the main reason is that outside Port Vila and its surrounding area the road condition is quite bad and not appropriate for a motorbike or scooter. They also have many mini-vans that can take you places at a reasonable price.

However, you can rent a 4 wheel drive or a dune buggy from businesses in Port Vila. Unfortunately, I don't have any names or numbers. I've seen the dune buggy being driven around town and other tourists told me they rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle for a day or 2 to drive around the island.

a bunch of us went on a trip with buggy fun rental! - took dune buggies through Vila, then along dirt roads through farms and down to the beach. brilliant, muddy fun, highly recommended!

looks like they also rent motorbikes, which i guess are ok too...

cheers
