Only a week

Hi My daughter and I only have a week in Vanuautu in May (arriving late on the Wednesday) and leaving midday the following Wednesday. We enjoy swimming, snorkelling and walking and would like to relax and live cheaply rather than rush around. Would it be best to say on one island, and which one? Our flight is to Santo or Port Vila - haven't booked yet. I really enjoyed Hemis's update from Nov 2013 and got the feeling we would enjoy Santo most. Is it worth trying to get to any other islands?

I would say you could fill a week in Santo easily enough, with maybe a day or two in and around Vila added. Don't add more islands to a week-long stay if you don't like rushing around.

You could also have a lovely week at Port Vila. Use your first day to do one of the 'around the island' tours -it's a great way to then pick and choose how to spend your time there. From Vila you can easily get to some smaller resort island nearby that can be good to laze around on for a day - we did that, rather than pay the full price to stay at the island, you can pay a day fee instead. I quite liked being in Vila, and as I said, the tour around the island was great.
