package for tanna

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

hi guys
we havent booked our three days in tanna cos we are very confused
we would like to book a package of three days (2-3 nights), flight included from port vila but :
- we dont know if to buy separate on line flight and accomodation or
- if to wait to get there and buy a whole package from any tour agent or
- if we can find on line an already planned package

what would u suggest?

We used Melanesian Tours based in Pt. Vila to book our 3 day tour to Tanna. I e-mailed them with our dates and which accommodation we were interested in and they booked our flights, accommodation and the volcano tour. They provided excellent service.

thank u sooo much
do u remeber how much did it cosy for persone? more or less

2

I'm sorry I can't help with the cost factor - it was 7 or 8 years ago so the costs would probably not be the same today anyway.

3

i got it
thank u so much

4

i have contacted melanesian tour but their tour for a package with only 1 night is definitely very expensive
almost 360 euro per person

too much for us

too bad, we have to find other solutions

5

you have asked these questions before...It is really quite simple...
you can easily do it yourself....book the Air Vanuatu internal flights on-line at their website, and email guesthouse/bungalow and book your Tanna accommodation and airport transfers..

6

this is what i ll do considering the high prices of packages

7

we are still looking for this tour
i guess we'll do it by ourselves as you have wisely suggested us
now our question is: how long would you stay?
2 days one night is enough or better two nights?
thanks guys

that is really up to you, and depends how much time you have in total for Vanuatu and where else you want to go..
I'd suggest at least 3 days 2 nights, as your travel each way can take up most of 1 day (IE. flight and transfer to eastern side bungalow)..also good to see the volcano for a sunset and a sunrise...

A few years ago, we stayed 4 nights in February at Tanna Evergreen Resort - nice, locally-run with very good snorkeling right in front (though not so easy to get to at low tide). It is a long truck ride to the volcano and if you wanted to go there more than once it might be better to stay at a place closer. I think Poppy's has accommodation nearer the volcano - Friendly Bungalows.

I'd stay longer than one night in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

at the end we have booked two nights in a bungalow place not far from the aiprot
we'll see
