Pentecoste - Nagol- where to stay?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hi,

we will travel to Pentecoste in June year. We will get there for the last weekend of June- arriving Friday morning and stay until Sunday.

Which place to stay would you recommend? How far is it from the accommodation to land dive site? I guess Hotels organize the airport and transfer to the sites.

Thanks

Stay at "Clemets Guesthouse" in the friendly and beautiful village of Pangi.

Clemet and his family will take good care of you, pick you/deliver you at the airport and drive you to land-diving sites and other places of interest.

When I stayed there in April last year I vent to the two closest land-diving events. One of them took place near the airport. (about 1 hour drive from Pangi) The other took place in the village of Londot about 15-20 min drive from Pangi (if I remember correctly) However, I don't know if Londot will arrange land diving this year as the last years first diving event ended in tragedy when the tower collapsed, killed one person and injured 4 others.
Because of the accident there may be new general regulations and restrictions on Nagol in 2009? At least there were discussions about it after the accident.

I booked through Mr.Talo in http://www.vanuatudiscovery.com.vu/

PS!
Do they really arrange Nagol as late as the last weekend in June?...

If you want to stay somewhere in the area anyway, go to Pangi and ask for Luke, the late Chief Willy's son. He's a nice, kind, helpful, trustworthy guy with a few huts you can stay in. He can also fix you up with a guide to go on treks to the interior villages.
