Port Vila Airport

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

I am planning to visit Vanuatu and Tanna in August. I am a bit worried about the situation of the airport. Does anyone know if its safe for planes to land there? Does it depend on the plane or its like generally unsafe? My flights are not in big boeing planes but more in smaller planes operated by Fiji Airways.

What are your reasons for the worry? It sounds like you are anxious about a situation that is new to you. Why not treat it as an exciting adventure? It's more fun that way.

do a google search for bauerfield airport runway news and make your ow mind up

air nz and the aussie airlines stopped flights due to the runway
a number of other airlines still use it and it seems the aussie airlines have resumed flying there

Ri just flew there and back. Was there for a week and arrived back in vila on sunday. N the runway is fine. If you get the tiny plane, close your eyes when it lands.
