Port Villa - place to stay?

Hi,

We are looking to travel to Vanuatu around May/June/July and are looking for a great but not too expensive place to stay within 20 mins of Port Villa. We are 2 adults and a 2 year old. Would love a relaxed place with a great beach and good snorkelling and a place that is great with kids.

Not sure if youll get "great" snorkelling within 20 mins of Vila. I would suggest for a relaxing holiday with child to go to Irriki. Snorkelling off the iskland is not bad and its only 2 mins by punt to the town centre. Just check on the placement of your room and any building works that may be happening there as large development was planned on the island (which is small) .

The previous poster is right that there is not much "great" snorkelling around Port Vila, but there is certainly "goog", and any number of tour companies to take you there. I was in Vila recently and stayed at Moorings - good reasonably priced rooms, helpful staff, good food. http://www.mooringsvanuatu.com/. Irririki is fabulous but very expensive.
