Snorkeling in JulyCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu
Hi, Can anyone please tell me where the best snorkeling from the beach is in Efate? I've seen temperature is about 21, is this too cool for snorkeling in July? The question comes from a very fair weather swimmer, who hates snorkelilng when it's not relaxing and warm. Total wuss I know, but there you have it. Thanks
Hideaway runs a dive school and supplies all the gear. There is a dive shop in town opposite BNP on the big concrete drive. They may have some spaces in group dives available. This guy runs a good operation, knows the best places to dive and they are not accessible by road. You get a day sailing and diving plus lunch. If the 21 means air temperature then that isn't right. A typical July day is about 25. It's a good time to be there because the humidity is low, it only rains about once a week and the mosquitoes are on vacation. You might need a jacket at night when it's usually around 18 - 20. | 1
Hi Uncle sav, thanks for the reply. What I'm actually looking for is a place to snorkel from the beach, that is without going out on a boat (long story won't bore you with). And also some idea of if it's warm enough for snorkeling in July. You mentioned Hideaway-- have you stayed there and would you recommend it? Thanks | 2
Never been there. If you want to go somewhere by yourself just take the bus down Pango Road ( pronounced like hung-oh ) and jump in the water past Breakas. The reef there is about 2k long. There's also diving at Lelepa, but you need to go by boat. | 3
