sunset bungalows, any good?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hey all
My partner and I are currently looking at going for a holiday to Vanuatu and have come across a deal for sunset bungalows, have been currently checking out reviews and such about it but the main ones are on tripadvisor and some seem to swing either way (really super good or meh it was ok) and some aren't that recent at all. We mainly want to chill out, eat, swim and do some day activities so this place is looking pretty good. Does anyone have some good/bad experiences? We're also hoping to go in January and was wondering if this is a good time to go? Going to be my first proper holiday in a few years so would like it to go off well
Thanks for any replies

We stayed there for a week in 07. It had just been taken over by new owners. Rate was $250 a night (including continental breakfast and transfers). Pool was ok. Staff very good. Restuarant excellent, and open all day to late. Rooms comfortable with nice outlook. Don't beleive the staff if they advise there are no mozzies . I thought some of the other resorts presented better value. We checked out Irriki which I would stay at if we returned to Vanuatu. So, not much is cheap in Vanuatu and it would depend on what sort of deal you are getting. I have heard good reports about Breaka's.

Haven't actually stayed there so can't comment. A good site to try for all sorts of accommodation in Vanuatu is www.vanuatu-hotels.vu which is also recommended by LP.
January and Febuary are actually the low months as it is very hot and humid with monsoon rains and possiblity of cyclones. Best time is April thru October as the weather is generally warm, dry and clear with little wind.

Hi there! Are you referring to the Sunset Bungalows in Lamen Bay? If so, I lived in Lamen Bay for 5 weeks and can tell you that it's definitely the best place to go in Lamen Bay (though that's possibly because it's the only "hostel" type place lol:)! Its staff is really nice (especially Melanie and Willie, who is the chief of the village) and the food is really tasty--ask if they can make you the lemon merainge pie and the yam hashbrowns, YUM!!! Nice place!
