Time Allocation in Vanuatu ("how long on each island?")

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hello Everyone...

I will be going to Vanuatu in September and plan on having 8 or 9 days in the country.

I'd really like to visit Efate, Tanna and Santo. It may sound ambitious for such a short vacation but this may be a once in a lifetime chance for me.

Assuming you had 8 or 9 days in Vanuatu, how would you divide them up among the three islands?

I'm interested in experiencing local culture, beaches, snorkelling (no diving license unfortunately) and seeing Mt. Yasur (the one definite thing im doing in my trip)

Thanks for any advice!

Hi JT,
Depends on how much time you want to spend getting between places. If it were me I'd be planning a couple of days on Efate & the rest on Tanna. I'd recommend staying at
Port Resolution, or at least on that side of Tanna. Wonderful place. A few pics on my website. http://cuppa500,com

regards
Cuppa

I thought Santo had a good variety of things to do and would probably choose to spend most time there (but I only passed through Efate). You can see Mt Yasur in an evening, but it depends on whether any of the other things on Tanna interests you.

1 day in Vila, 2-3 days on Tanna, the rest in Santo.
