We have just returned from six weeks at Vanuatu staying at a dozen or so places on the main island, Efate, Santo and Tanna all with no problems except when we stayed at Tranquility Island resort on Moso island. We found it unsafe, unhealthy and very overpriced. We had mice and centipedes in the accommodation, we needed medication for skin rashes, another couple caught scabies from the bed linen, the food was less than school camp standard and the dive operation nothing short of dangerous. We complained to management and left a three page written complaint with the Vanuatu Tourist Office.
sorry to hear about your experience. I was considering going there but have heard bad things. thanks | 1
It's a divine spot, & it was budget, so we weren't expecting a lot. The food was plain, but good, the fares were right on the beach, idyllic. But the people running the place were rude & unhelpful. The diving was pretty ordinary, & we thought the diving practices were quite unsafe. And the rusty fire extinguishers & electrical cords criss-crossing the grounds through the rainforest were a bit scary. They told us that the rodent in our huts was a "Polynesian fieldmouse", however I looked it up when we got back & - surprise - there's no such thing. It was a Polynesian Rat. Pity they don't try a bit harder, because it's a lovely spot & has great potential. BTW, it's advertised as an eco-resort, but there's nothing eco about it, other than that they run the generators only a couple of hours a day. There are no composting toilets, solar panels, etc. | 2
