Travel on the last 2 weeks of June to Vanuatu

HI,
I'm traveling for a couple of weeks in the second part of June to Vanuatu. My interest is interacting with tribes, watching traditional dances or doing anything else if it's interesting. I'll be traveling with my older mother (79) but she is generally tough. She hiked Anapurna circuit in the Himalayas 3 years ago but the trails in Iceland last year were a little but too tough for her. I'd like to visit the naghol in Pentecost and to go to Tanna. I wouldn't mind Malekula or Ambrym but I have no idea how that would be since in June there are no festivals on those islands and we are traveling alone. How would u suggest I tailor the itinerary?
Any suggestions?

Even without a festival, you could happen upon traditional ceremonies on Ambrym and Malekula. It is a matter of asking around and being lucky.
Santo is also good for traditional culture.

Thank u Lazlo. I have 2 weeks in Vanuatu. How many days would u assign to Tanna, Pentecost and maybe Santo? Do u think Ambrym would be feasible or is it too much already?

With only 2 weeks, it might be enough to visit Vila, Tanna and Pentecost, though if you have extra time left, Ambrym is just a short hop from the latter.

Would u rather visit Ambrym or Santo if u had to pick?

Maybe Santo, as it also has fantastic beaches and easier to tour.
However, I found Ambrym more interesting culturally. But I hit two local ceremonies/festivals there.

I think Tanna could be a great option to visit with your grandmother. It's a beautiful island and it has an active volcano which is worth climbing. I recently wrote an article about the highlights of Tanna island in Vanuatu with tips on how to get there, flight options, and accommodation prices.
