Vanuatu in August/SeptemberCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu
I am considering booking a last minute trip to Vanuatu for two weeks (the last week in August and the first week in September). Is the weather at this time good for swimming at the beach, snorkelling etc??? If not, would someone be able to recommend somewhere else in the area that would be good for that? Fiji, etc? Thanks so much!!!!
Technically Vanuatu has a hot tropical climate with rain in all months and daytime temperatures that vary little from month to month. However in practice from the middle of July to the middle of September it is a bit cooler, and there is less rain. So I would say the end of August is an excellent time to go, simply because it is not so hot. Heat and Humidity in Port Vila is low at this time of year while in Espiritu Santo it is normally moderate. In direct sun of course it will feel hot and the UV will be very high. Sea temperatures should be around 26-27° and you can expect 7 hours of sunshine a day. It is outside the tropical storm season so you should not run into one of those. Vanuatu is a popular destination for Australians to go diving and snorkelling so you should find what you are looking for. Hopefully you will be taking your own equipment including a light wet-suit with you. The weather in Fiji at that time will be much the same, while Noumea will be a little on the cool side. | 1
Awesome :) I have decided to spend a week in Vanuatu and a week in Fiji just to cover it all. Sounds like a good time to go as I'm not really into super hot weather anyway.. just want it to be nice to do some lazy beach stuff :) Thanks! | 2
