Vanuatu or Solomon Islands

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hello,

We are the couple who loves traveling especially to Asia.
This year (october/november) we decided to go to Pacific . Our favorites are Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, we have only 1 month and we really dont know which one should we choose. We dont want to hurry and jump one place to another, we prefer to enjoy the place.
What we expect: places who are not crowded by tourist, beautiful nature and landscape, some nice trecking, nice snorkeling with not destroyed corals, traditional villages and tribal people, and some nice beaches with powdery sand.

1) What do you think Vanuatu for 1 month is ok or is it worth to make it together with New Caledonia. If yes would you recommend us to see New Caledonia?
Could you please recommend us some itinerary for one month in Vanuatu (possibly New Caledonia)? We know that it is necessary fly.

2) Solomon Islands must be great but in the guidebook is not written so much thats the reason why we dont know how to organize it? Could you please recommend us some itinerary for one month in Solomons?

We know that it is difficult to say which is better but you are people who are experienced in boath destinations and so we decided to please you for advice.

Thank you very much for your advice

Viktor and Linda

For Solomon Islands, look at these 2 sites: Exploring Solomons and Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau . Malaita and Western Province both have quite good transport, and will give ou a variety from more tourist to traditional places.

For more travel inspiration for both Vanuatu and Solomon Islands check out globespots.com.

Vanuatu is easier to travel than Solomon Islands (better transport and facilities). Transport on Solomon Islands is not very reliant, so you need to have a margin when planning.

But both places are amazing!

Start here for Vanuatu: Images of Vanuatu: http://picasaweb.google.com/vanuatutravel

Then go to Triadvisor, and look up the "Port Vila", the "Tanna island", and the "Espiritu Santo" forums.

Cheers from Port Vila.
Tanna and Santo islands will fit your type of travel,

Post #2 seems to be only a promotion for a website with very limited and occasionally misleading information about Solomon Islands. I can't comment on Vanuatu.

Sorry to derail this thread a bit, but this comment is for #4.

OP asked for some travel inspiration, and globespots.com is just about that.

If there are misleading information on our website, please point them out so we can correct them.

Thanks!
