Vanuatu with older teens

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

Hi I've read many threads on Vanuatu and am thinking of heading to Tanna and Santo for a week or so in April.
would love to hear any other must dos and must stays. There is a limit on my purse though!

My daughters are 17. 19 and 21 and they would like to have a great socialising time as well as cultural experiences.
Any recommended places to stay where they could meet up with, let's face it, guys?
Also shopping is high on their agenda - are there markets where they could find cheap clothes?
Otherwise there could be a mutiny.

Thanks in advance,
V.

I can't comment on Santo but they will not find many places to shop in Tanna. They will likely be disappointed if they want to do that. Tanna is a wonderful place to visit--one of my favorite places that I've visited--but if they are looking for some kind of "scene" with shopping and clubs, they should forget about it. That's really not what a visiti to Tanna is about.

Wrong islands!
Neither offers what your daughters want - stick to the Port Vila area.
And even then... Fiji would be a much better choice for them.

I have a different opinion, after taking 3 teenage girls to a very traditional part of Solomon Islands (one was a confessed shopaholic).
The village experience had a profound effect.
I would say, take them to Tanna and Santo and let them experience something completely different - it could change them, for the better,.
Simply give them a day or so to shop in Vila before leaving the country.

Definately no shopping in Vanuatu. It is really bad for shopping.

I agree with Ozziegiraffe - I think the Tanna experience would be very special for your girls.
