Hello all, Just wanting to know the best option/s to see the Volcano's. We have only 6 days in Vanautu thinking of staying/basing ourselves in Vila then commuting out. What's the best/easiest volcano to get to i've been told Tanna island but we only fly in on a sunday and out the next sunday.
Mt Yasur on Tanna is definitely the volcano you want to go to. It it just amazing, has to be seen to be believed! We went a couple of years ago and had about 8 days in Vila and 3 on Tanna. Once we got there, we wished we had much longer to stay, Tanna is just beautiful. I guess it depends what you are looking for, if you want luxurious resorts, restaurants etc then Vila is the go, Tanna is much more rustic and untouched, it felt more like the 'real' Vanuatu. | 1
Spend at least one night in Tanna. An important part of the Yasur vulcano experience is to se the "fireworks" after sunset (in the dark). Regards Edited by: eflatjan | 2
If you want info on Tanna Volcano go to tripadvisor, the subject has been covered over and over again, with inumerable questions answered, or Google: "Mt Yasur" or "Tanna Volcano" . Yes, it is one of the best live volcanos in the world to see and the most accessible. Having lived 3 years on Tanna, I suggest that you spend the max time on that island as it will provide indelible holiday memories. Definetly book flights and accommodation in advance as Tanna does not have enough rooms (well good ones anyway) for the number of arrivals so it books out early.
