WEDDING

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Vanuatu

I am Australian and my boyfriend is American. We want to have an informal wedding in Fiji, Tahiti, or the Cook Islands - this way we're picking a place somewhere in the middle of our two continents. We are wondering if any one reading this site can suggest a lovely place on any of the above islands. Any little bits of info would be fabulous. Maybe one of you out there got married in one of these places or knows someone who did and has some good tips.
Thank you very much.

Raro Wedding
My husband and I got married in the Cook Islands this past March, and I cannot think of a better place to do it. We are from Canada so it was a long trip but well worth the time and money. In fact, we are not sure that we will ever be able to go back to our regular destinations like Mexico. Our ceremony was very informal and took place right on Muri Beach. I organized most of the wedding over the internet and everything went very smoothly. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with beautiful people, the Cook Islands would be a great choice.

Cook island wedding
I have to agree with jendugs post above. My wife and I just got married in Rarotonga about 3 weeks ago.
We also organised everything through the internet and everything went smoothly with no problems. We got married on the beach in front of the Takitumu villas on the south side of the island where we were staying.
If you are interested in looking at our photos you can view them at http://community.webshots.com/user/flyingkiwi . The location was spectacular just a pity that our wedding day was the only day on our trip to the Cooks that the sun didn't shine.
If you want any further information you can send a private message to me.
Good luck

Q
There are a lot of weddings here at Muri Beach, Rarotonga. Our website has some photos of what it looks like:

Also, the Takitumu villas area, about a mile or two further south, is just as nice.

The Cooks
I am an Australian married to a Canadian. We were in Rarotonga this past July and I can't think of a place more perfect for a wedding. We stayed in a house next door to Takitumu Villas, what a gorgeous place. We met a couple who were staying there on their honeymoon, they had also been to Fiji and said there was no comparison, Rarotonga won hands down. Takitumu Villas are on a very private beach, with incredible snorkeling. The villas are new, they were just finishing up the last few when we were there.

Wedding
Hi,
We were married at the Rarotongan Beach Resort in February.
It was wonderful. The staff and guests of the resort were very kind and congratulatory. As it was a beachside wedding, we had several dozen "guests" to join us in our celebration.
We're going back almost one year later to visit our utu.
Do it. You won't regret it.

Cheers,

Phil

easy, big fella!

in front of Takitumu Villas June 2001. Wonderful-couldn't think of a better place to do it.
Sorry, in Rarotonga, Titikaveka area. Also organized over the net.
Any of you other people married there-have I spoken to you in the past? I know I've recommended Takitumu before is all.

Too many freaks, not enough circus'

We have witnessed a wedding on Castaway Island Fiji. A very informal romantic affair. We wish we had thought of it when we got married. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I want to thank you guys for cheering me up. I have been sweating over where to get married. My fiance and I really want a chilled out wedding near/on a beach and have just been to Samoa to check it out but the infrastructure there is a little bit missing to accommodate a large range of people. I am now looking forward to a long weekend in Rarotonga and will check out all the places you guys have mentioned. One thing I am a bit concerned about is the fickleness of the weather. I understand you cant rely on the weather anywhere, but what is it like in Rarotonga?

My sister got married in Rarotonga last year and it was amazing. She got married in October and the weather was overcast for most of the time but warm. On the wedding day it was hot although not clear skys but the photographer that she got in the package was amazing! Rarotonga was an awesome place to visit and to get married! We had a great week there unforgetable!
